| Each meeting consists of a local outing to places suggested by members, some local and none more than one hour's drive away. Lifts are available. The group has grown, but we still welcome new members, including beginners. Lack of experience is no bar - several of our members are very knowledgeable and we learn from each other. | ||

| The group seeks to promote the enjoyment of gardens and gardening. Its programme is divided into two parts. In winter there are talks/slide shows with a garden, nature or plants theme. These are usually non-technical although some lecturers are willing and able to answer specific queries. In summer the group visits gardens great and small to enjoy the beauty, colour and variety of the English garden sometimes with an historic house to add value to the visit (and to offer protection from the rain!). | ||

| Members lead walks, usually of four to five miles, in the Weald, Ashdown Forest and the South Downs. A pub is often nearby and members may choose to lunch there. We aim to walk at least once a month throughout the year on different days of the week. The leader produces slips briefly describing the walk, the departure point and time, which are distributed at the previous walk. The programme of forthcoming walks is detailed in the Newsletter and farther information is obtainable from the Convener or the leader of any particular walk. | ||
