| In this small friendly group, we not only develop our conversational and linguistic skills, but also learn about the French way of life. We try to master some of the intricacies of French grammar as well as dealing with day-to-day situations. We use BBC textbooks, crossword and word puzzles to develop our vocabulary and pronunciation and our confidence in the use of French.. | ||

| We have now migrated to a pleasant room in the Methodist Church, Perrymount Road which, by reason of easier parking, seems like a Promised Land. No longer a Beginners' Group, we still after six years have four of our original members, intent on improving our French conversation and knowledge of French life and language through mutual help and (it must be added) a measure of hilarity. | ||

When Spanish Beginners settles down, it is hoped that a second group will be formed for those who already have a reasonable knowledge of the language. | Members of this group have a basic knowledge of German, but are keen to improve. They do so by preparing a topic in writing each meeting and then talking about it. After a break, members have more opportunities to read and talk together. It is both enjoyable and helpful. At present there are only a limited number of vacancies within the group but it should be noted that there is also another German group more suited to beginners. | ||
